Find the ratio of first and second number and equate it to the ratio of third and fourth number i.e.

$\frac{x}{3}=\frac{4}{6}$

$x=\frac{3\times 4}{6}$

$x=\frac{4}{2}$

$x=2$

Hence, the value of $x$ is $2$ when four numbers $x:3::4:6$ are in proportion.
