Find the values of k for which the quadratic equation 9xsquare-3x+k =0 has equal roots.

Solution

Given 9x² - 3x - k = 0 has equal roots
Hence is b² – 4ac = 0
That is 3² – 4(-k)(9) = 0
9 +36 k = 0
∴ k = –1/4
