Find the volume of wood used to make a closed rectangular box of outer dimensions 60cm×45cm×32cm, the thickness of wood being 2.5 cm all around. Also find the capacity of the box.

Thickness of wood =2.5cm
l=602(2.5)=55cm
b=452(2.5)=45cm
h=322(2.5)=27cm

The capacity of the box = l×b×h=(55×40×27)cm3=59400cm3

Total volume of box =L×B×H

=(60×45×32)cm3

=86400cm3

Volume of wood used =Total volume - Actual capacity

=8640059400

=27000cm3
