Solution

Step 1: Given information.

External diameter of the spherical shell (D)=30cm.

Thickness of ball(t)=2cm.

Density of copper=10g/cm3.

Step 2: Calculate the volume of the spherical shell.

The external radius of the spherical shell (R)=302=15cm.

The inner diameter of the spherical shell (d)=30-2t=30-4=26cm.

So, the inner radius (r)=262=13cm.

∴Volumeofthesphericalshell=43Ο€R3-43Ο€r3β‡’=43Ο€(R3-r3)β‡’=43Γ—227Γ—153-133β‡’=43Γ—227Γ—(3375-2197)β‡’=43Γ—227Γ—1178β‡’=4936.38cm3

Step 3: Calculate the weight of the spherical shell.

The density of copper is 10g/cm3.

∴theweightofasphericalshell=4936.38Γ—10β‡’=49363.8gramsβ‡’=49363.81000β‡’=49.364kg

Hence, the weight of the spherical shell is 49.364kg.
