sol: Given

$40 %$ of it is $500 k m$

Therefore,

$40 %$ $\times T o t a l = 500 k m$

$\Rightarrow \frac{40}{100} \times t o t a l = 500 k m$

$\Rightarrow t o t a l = 500 \times \frac{100}{40} k m$

$\Rightarrow$ total $= 250 \times \frac{10}{2} k m$

$\Rightarrow t o t a l = 125 \times 10 k m$

$\Rightarrow$ total $= 1250 k m$

so,total is $1250.$
