Question

Find the zeroes of the following polynomial by factorization method: 3x2+4x-4.

Open in App
Solution

Factorise the given polynomial to find its zeroes

Given, 3x2+4x-4

First, we will split the middle term.

3x2+4x-4=3x2+6x-2x-4

=3x(x+2)-2(x+2) [ taking the common terms out ]

=(x+2)(3x-2)

We can find the zeroes as

(x+2)(3x-2)=0

(x+2)=0 or (3x-2)=0

x=-2 or x=23

Hence, the zeroes of the polynomial are -2 and 23.
