To understand it look at the statement given initally
((Let one of the odd positive integer be x ))
the next number that is odd if x is odd is definitly x+2(eg if x=3(odd number) then next odd number is 5 (that is x+2)
As you we will not take x as two here(.only odd numbera)thus x and x2 is used to represent consecutive odd numbers.
