Question

Find whether the following points lie on the line $$x - 2y + 5 = 0:$$
$$(0, 5)$$

Solution

Given line equation is $$x – 2y + 5 = 0.$$
On substituting $$x = 0$$ and $$y = 5$$ in the given line equation, we have
$$L.H.S. = 0 – 2(5) + 5 = -10 + 5 = -5 \neq R.H.S.$$
Hence, the point $$(0, 5)$$ does not lie on the given line.
