Find which of the following equations are quadratic:

$(C) (x - 4) (3 x + 1) = (3 x - 1) (x + 2)$

Step : Finding whether the given equatioin is quadratic or not:

The standard form of a quadratic equation is $a x^{2} + b x + c = 0$ , where a, b and c are all real numbers and $a \neq 0$ .

$(x - 4) (3 x + 1) = (3 x - 1) (x + 2)$

$\Rightarrow 3 x^{2} + x - 12 x - 4 = 3 x^{2} + 6 x - x - 2$

$\Rightarrow 3 x^{2} - 11 x - 4 = 3 x^{2} + 5 x - 2$

$\Rightarrow - 11 x - 5 x - 4 + 2 = 0$

$\Rightarrow - 16 x - 2 = 0$ :

The given equation is not of the form $a x^{2} + b x + c = 0$

$∴$ Given equation is not a quadratic equation.
