(i) $\frac{3 x - 2}{4}$ - $\frac{(x - 3)}{5}$ = - 1

(ii) $\frac{m + 9}{3 m + 15}$ = $\frac{5}{3}$

(i) $\frac{3 x - 2}{4}$ - $\frac{(x - 3)}{5}$ = -1

$\frac{5 (3 x - 2) - 4 (x - 3)}{20}$ = -1 [0.5 mark]

$\frac{15 x - 10 - 4 x + 12}{20}$ = -1

11x +2 = -20
11x = -22
x = -2 [0.5 mark]

(ii) $\frac{m + 9}{3 m + 15}$ = $\frac{5}{3}$

3(m+9) = 5(3m + 15) [0.5 mark]
3m + 27 = 15 m + 75
15m - 3m = 27 - 75
12m = -48
m = -4 [0.5 mark]
