Cell cycle includes a non-dividing phase, interphase and a dividing phase, mitotic phase.

Interphase has a long duration and during this phase the cell prepares to divide by undergoing cell growth and DNA replication. Interphase is further divided into G1 , S and G2 phases. “G” stands for gap and growth happens during this phase.
First gap phase is the G1 phase. It is a phase of interphase before DNA replication. After the G1 phase, the cell undergoes DNA replication in S phase.
