Solution

Step 1. Finding the charges per hour when rate is Rs.60 for 4hour

For 4hour the car is charged Rs.60

Let the charge for 1hour is C1

Therefore,

C1=604=15

The charge per Hour is Rs.15

Step 2. Finding the charges per hour when rate is Rs.100 for 8hour

For 8hour the car is charged Rs.100

Let the charge for 1hour is C2

Therefore,

C2=1008=12.5

The charge per Hour is Rs.12.5

Step 3. Finding the charges per hour when rate is Rs.140 for 12hour

For 12hour the car is charged Rs.140

Let the charge for 1hour is C3

Therefore,

C3=14012=11.67

The charge per Hour is Rs.11.67

Step 4. Finding the charges per hour when rate is Rs.180 for 24hour

For 24hour the car is charged Rs.180

Let the charge for 1hour is C4

Therefore,

C4=18024=7.50

The charge per Hour is Rs.7.50

Step 5. Finding the proportion.

The charges per hour are not the same that is, C1C2C3C4

Hence, the parking charges are not in direct proportion to the parking time.
