  1. Australopithecus: They lived about 2-4 million years ago.
  2. Homo erectus: They lived about 0.25-1.7 million years ago.
  3. Homo neanderthalensis: They lived between 40,000-3,00,000 years ago.
  4. Homo sapiens: They lived between 20,000-50,000 years back.

(b) Brain capacity:

  1. Australopithecus: Their brain capacity was 400-600 cm3.
  2. Homo erectus: Their brain capacity was 775-1255 cm3.
  3. Homo neanderthalensis: Their brain capacity was 1200-1600 cm3.
  4. Homo sapiens: Their brain capacity was 1650 cm3.

(c) Height:

  1. Australopithecus: Their height was 100-120 cm.
  2. Homo erectus: Their height was 150 cm.
  3. Homo neanderthalensis: Their height was 160-170 cm.
  4. Homo sapiens: Their height was 180 cm.

(d) Changes on face:

  1. Australopithecus: Their face was prognathous. Brow ridges were prominent.
  2. Homo erectus: Their face was prognathous. Jaws and teeth were strong.
  3. Homo neanderthalensis: Their forehead was broad and sloping. Their jaw was large.
  4. Homo sapiens: Their face was orthognathous. The forehead was broad but arched. They also had chins.
