Torque produced in a bar magnet is given by

τ=M×B

τ=MBsinθ

where θ is the angle between M and B

Torque for first orientation is:

τ1=MBsin90=MB

Torque for second orientation is:

τ2=MBsin0=0

Torque for first orientation is:

τ3=MBsin30=MB2

Torque for first orientation is:

τ4=MBsin60=3MB2

Torque is maximum in case 1 and hence maximum net dipole moment.
