It is given that, 1 hand symbol $=100$ people
So, 4 hand symbol$=4\times 100=400$
Hence, $400$ people have the surname, Roy.

Part (b):
As surname Patel has maximum number of hand symbols against it, i.e.,5.
$\therefore$ Surname Patel, appears the maximum number of times

Part (c):
As Saikia has minimum number of hands against it. i.e., 2
$\therefore$ Surname Saikia, appears the minimum number of times

Part (d):
As Rao and Roy both have equal number of hands symbols against the surnames. i.e., 4.
$\therefore$ Rao and Roy appear equal number of times.
