Question

For a CE transistor amplifier, the audio signal voltage across the collector resistance of 2kΩ is 2V. Suppose the current amplification factor of the transistor is 100. What should be the value of RB in series with VBB supply of 2V if the dc base current has to be 10 times the signal current. Also calculate the dc drop across the collector resistance. Take VBE=0.6V

Open in App
Solution

RB=14kΩ
dc=20 volt
Current at collector due to audio s/g=2v2kΩ=1mA
IC=1mA
If base current (IB) is 10 times, signal current mean,
IB=10μAmp
β=100, signal current at base input will be =1mA100=Ibβ=10μAmp
By considering the VBE=0.6 Volt, RB value for 100μA is given by
RB=1.4100×106=14kΩ
