K=2.303k3....(i)
the half life is given by,
t1/2=2.303kloga(a0.5a)=2.303klog2=2.303k×0.3010.....(ii)
divide(i) by (ii)
t0.999t0.5=2.303k3×k2.303×0.3010=10
t0.999=10×t0.5.
