Kinetic energy



When the pendulum is at the extreme position, its speed is 0. So its kinetic energy will be 0 at that position
When pendulum approaches mean position, its velocity continuously increases, so its kinetic energy also increases.
The height above the ground decreases as it approaches the mean position. So its potential energy decreases.
But the total energy remains constant, only potential energy converts into kinetic energy when it approaches the mean position.
