For catalytic hydrogenation of alkenes, Ni is a suitable catalyst at room temperature - True or False?
For catalytic hydrogenation at room temperature, Pd, Pt Rhodium and Raney Nickel are suitable. Using Nickel alone does not yield good results. Raney Nickel is cheaper than Pd, Pt and Rhodium ( or even Ruthenium). For catalytic hydrogenation, B2H6 (diborane) in THF can also be used.
Raney Nickel works even at room temperature under atmosphere pressure.
A particularly interesting reaction is the Sabatier - Sendere's reaction.
