Chlorophyll is the light-trapping pigment in plants. Chlorophyll formation requires iron and magnesium. Light is also an essential requirement for chlorophyll formation. Plants grown in the deficiency of iron and magnesium may show chlorosis, i.e., yellowing of leaves. Plants grown in the absence of light are called as etiolated plants.
