(a) Variation of g with latitude is given by g′=g−Rω2cos2θ g′ will be maximum when cos2θ is minimum, i.e. =0, or, when θ=90∘ ⇒gmax=g, at the poles. (b) g′ will be minimum when cos2θ is maximum ⇒ i.e. θ=0 gmin=g−Rω2, at the equator.
