For the circuit shown in the figure below, answer the following questions:


  1. Would any of the bulb glow when the switch is in the ‘OFF’ position?
  2. What will be the order in which the bulb A, B, and C will glow when the switch is moved to the ‘ON’ position?

  1. The bulbs will glow only if electric current is passed through them. But for electric current to flow in the circuit, there should be a closed path. Here when the switch is in OFF position, the circuit will be incomplete and no current will flow through it. So none of the bulbs will glow when the switch is in the ‘OFF’ position.
  2. When the switch is moved to the ‘ON’ position, the circuit will be closed and the electric current will start flowing immediately. So all of the bulbs will glow instantly at the same time.
