From the diagram,

E=4V

R=5Ω

r=3Ω

Step 2:

Formula used:

I=ER+r,where I is the current, E is emf , R is resistance and r is internal resistance.

V=E-Ir ,where V is voltage or potential

Step 3:

Calculation of I

I=ER+r=45+3=48=12=0.5A

Step 4:

Calculate potential difference

V=E-IrV=4-0.5(3)=4-1.5V=2.5V

The potential difference across the terminals of the battery is 2.5V.
