  1. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite(Al2O3.2H2O) or Alumina
  2. Aluminium is extracted mainly by the process of electrolytic reduction technique.
  3. So the process of electrolysis is present in the extraction of aluminium.

The cathode used in the electrolysis is the iron tank lined with carbon and the anode is carbon rods dipped in the fused electrolyte.
