Common difference, d = Second term - First term
= 1 - 3 = - 2

(ii) - 5, - 1, 3, 7 …
Here, first term, a = - 5
Common difference, d = Second term - First term
= ( - 1) - ( - 5) = - 1 + 5 = 4
