5x7y=5

Open in App
Solution

The given system of equations is
2x+ky1=0
5x7y5=0

It is of the form ax+b1y+c1=0
a2x+b2y+c2=0

where a1=2,b1=k,c1=1
and a2=5,b2=7 and c2=5

For a unique solution, we must have
a1a2b1b2 i.e., 25k7k145

So, the given system of equations will have a unique solution for all real values of k other than 145.
