Question

For the given data gives below, calculate the mean of its median and mode 6,2,5,4,3,4,4,2,3.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1 : Finding the median:

Rearranging the data into ascending order, we get 2,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,6

The total numbers of observations are equal to 9, which is odd. Hence, 9+12=5th term will be the median of the data.

Hence, the median is equal to 4.

Step 2 : Finding the mode :

The data whose frequency is maximum is known as the mode of the data. So, 4 occurs 3 times which is a maximum occurrence than any other data hence, the mode of the data is 4.

Step 3 : Finding the Mean :

Now, by using the relation between mean mode and median of a data,

Mean=4+42=4

Hence, the mean of the data is 3.
