The angle subtended by the diameter XY to Z on the circle is equal to 90o.

Hence, Z=90o, and XY is the hypotenuse.

Given: XZ=2 units,ZY=3 units
XY=22+32=13 units

Similarly, for the lower half of the circle, W=90o.
XY2=XW2+WY2
XW2=XY2WY2=(13)2(2)2
XW=132=11 units
