ΔU=10.5 kJ and ΔS=44.1 JK1.Does the reaction occur spontaneously?

ΔU0=10.5kJ
ΔS0=44.1J/K
2A(g)+B(g)2D(g)

For the above reaction-
Δng=2(2+1)=1

As we know that,
ΔH0=ΔU0+ΔngRT
ΔH0=10.5+(1×8.314×103)(298)
ΔH0=12.98kJ

Again as we know that,
ΔG0=ΔH0TΔS0
ΔG0=12.98298×(44.1×103)=+0.16kJ

Since ΔG0 for the reaction is positive, the reaction will not occur spontaneously.

Hence the correct answer is No.
