The correct option is C Acetone
This is an example of grignards reaction.In this reaction the reactant A is made to react with ethyl magnesium iodine in ether solution which on hydrolysis gives pentyl alcohol.Therefore at the place where OH group is present in product,a carbonyl group would have been present in reactant and also ethyl would have been added at that same C from C2H5MgI.Thus the reactant would have been acetone.
