Solution

Definition: Transpiration is when the plants lose water through tiny pores called stomata.

Potometer is an instrument used to measure transpiration by estimating the amount of water taken up by the plants.

This apparatus has certain limitations:

  1. It does not give an accurate transpiration rate since not all the water taken up, is lost during transpiration.
  2. It is not easy to introduce an air bubble into the apparatus.
