For work to be done, energy must be
transformed from one form to another
For work to be done, energy must be transformed from one type to another though total energy remains constant during this transformation. For example, if we have to fill a tank overhead some height with water, we will use electrical energy which will run the motor and transfer it into mechanical energy of motor, which will push water towards the tank i.e. work is done in displacing water from one place to another and this work is further converted to potential energy of water at some height above the ground, so energy transformation takes place in order to do work.
