For $x = \frac{1}{3}$ and $y = \frac{2}{7}$ , verify that $x + y = y + x$ [2 MARKS]

Concept : 1 Mark
Calculation : 1 Mark

For $x = \frac{1}{3}$ and $y = \frac{2}{7}$

L.H.S = $x + y = \frac{1}{3} + \frac{2}{7}$

$= \frac{7}{21} + \frac{6}{21} = \frac{7 + 6}{21} = \frac{13}{21}$ --------(i)

now, R.H.S = $y + x = \frac{2}{7} + \frac{1}{3}$

$= \frac{6}{21} + \frac{7}{21} = \frac{13}{21}$ -------(ii)

From (i) and (ii) $x + y = y + x$ .
Hence verified.
