If we add 1 to the numerator and subtract 1 from the denominator, a fraction reduces to 1. It becomes 12 if we only add 1 to the denominator. What is the fraction?

The correct option is B 35
Let the fraction be xy
As per the question, we have
x+1y1=1 ...(1)
xy+1=12 ...(2)
From (1) will get
x+1=y1
xy=2 .....(3)
From (2) will get
2x=y+1
2xy=1 .....(4)
Using Elimination Method:
Subtracting (3) and (4) will get
xy2x+y=21
x=3
x=3
Now putting x in (4)
2×3y=1
6y=1
y=5
y=5
Hence, x=3,y=5
