Haemopoiesis is the formation of cellular components of blood (i.e. blood cells) which are derived from haematopoietic stem cells (HSC). These cells are present in the medulla of bone marrow and have the capability of self renewal. They differentiate into blood cells and some of the daughter cells remain as HSCs and thus, it's a never ending process. In foetus, this process takes place in liver whereas after birth, it occurs in bone marrow.
