Solution

Dear student,

Formation of curd

Milk is taken in a vessel and a small quantity of curd is added into it. It is stirred and kept aside for few hours without any disturbance. Finally, the milk is converted into curd.

However, curd formed cannot be converted into milk again.

  • This indicates that it is an irreversible change.
  • This can be also called as a chemical change

The formation of curd from milk is a chemical change, as the enzymes secreted by the bacteria Lactobacillus converts milk into curd.

The shredding a piece of paper and melting of ice are examples of a physical change as no chemical reaction is involved in the processes.
