Solution

The correct option is A True
Ionization is the process of formation of cations where an electron is removed from the valence orbital. Therefore, it needs the energy to overcome the attractive force between electron and nucleus. Thus it is an endothermic process.
Electron affinity is a process of gaining an electron and resulting in anion formation. First Electron Affinity is negative because energy is given out as electrons are attracted to the nucleus by an effective nuclear charge. It is exothermic because electrons have to lose energy to occupy a lower energy orbital.
Thus cation formation is endothermic while anion formation is exothermic.
Option A is correct.
