Formulating an equation to calculate percentage:

The percentage is a rate, number, or amount in each hundred.

Thus, the percentage that allows us to calculate the number of people that filed their taxes during the week of April 15th is given as

ab×100

Where a is the number of people who have filed their taxes during the week of April 15th and b represents the number of people who filed their taxes that year.

For example, if 100 people filed their taxes during the week of April 15th and 1000 people filed their taxes that year, then the percentage of people who filed their taxes during the week of April 15th would be,

=1001000×100

=10%.

Hence, the equation that would allow us to calculate the percentage is : ab×100
