The correct option is C 3
Given:
Velocity of ball B be V.


After collision (1st collision):

VB=m1m2m1+m2V
VB=m2m3mV=V3 (moving towards A )

VC=2m1m1+m2v=2m3mv=23v (moving towards D)



2nd collision:

C and D have same mass, so C comes to rest after colliding with D and D attains 2V3 velocity towards right.

3rd collision:

Similarly, B and A have same masses, hence after collision B comes to rest and A attains V3 velocity towards left.


Therefore the total number of collisions are 3

Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.
