Four circles of radius $1$ cm are placed in such a way on a plane such the each touches the other. Find the area of the space left in between the four circles.

Shaded area =Area of the square of side 2 cm - Area of the four quadrants of circle of radius 1 cm
i.e. Shaded Area $=22-4\times \frac{1}{4}\times \pi 1^2$
$=(4-\pi )c{m}^2$
$=(4-3.16)c{m}^2=0.84c{m}^2$
