The correct option is D 6 Ω
As shown in the figure below, R is the resistance of a side of the square.


Given, the resistance along a diagonal, say AD, is Rd=8 Ω
The effective resistance between A and D is also equal to
Reff=RABD||RACD
where RABD = Resistance along the path ABD = 2R = Resistance along the path ACD = RACD.
Reff=2R×2R2R+2R=R=8 Ω
Hence, the value or R is 8 Ω.
Now, resistance between any two adjacent sides, say A and C, can be calculated as follows:
RAC,eff=RAC||RABDC=R×3RR+3R = 3R4=3×84=6 Ω.
