Four equal circles, each of radius 5 cm, touch each other as shown in Fig. Find the area included between them (Take π=3.14)

It is given that four equal circle touches each other as shown in figure.

Let the side of square be= a.

then a= 5+5

=10 cms

We know that

Area of a circle = π r2

= 227 x r x r

=3.14 x 5 x 5

= 78.5 cm2

Area of a quadrant inside the square is given by 14 π r2

= =14× 78.5 cm2

Area of the shaded region = Area of the square- 4.( Area of the quadrant)

= 100 - ( 4) . 14 .( 78.5)

= 100- 78.5

= 21.50 cm2
