The correct option is D 9
Four friends received $2 \frac{1}{4}$ litres of juice. Or we can say each receive 2 litres and a quarter of a litre.

So the jar contained:
Four 2 litres and four quarter litres.
4 $\times$ 2 = 8 litres
4 $\times$ quarter = 1 litre.
So total juice in the jar is 8 + 1 = 9 litres.
