Figure shown below is for normal brightness of each bulb
Given, Current through each bulb
i0=0.5 A
For 4 electric bulbs, current through mains supply
i0=(0.5)4=2A
Also, voltage drop across each bulb
V0=1.5 V
Then, voltage drop across resistaance
VR=EV0=121.5=10.5 V
Where E=12 V is emf of battery
Hence for resistance R, we know that
VR=iR
10.5=i×R=2×R
R=214 Ω

Hence, option (b) is correct.
