Sum of two numbers is $60$. The bigger number is $4$ times the smaller one. Find the numbers

Let the numbers be $x$ and $y$

Now, Sum is $60$

$\Rightarrow x+y=60$......................................(1)

and assuming that $x$ is the smaller number $4x=y$

Putting $4x=y$ in eq(1) we get

$\Rightarrow 5x=60\to x=12$

So, $12+y=60\to y=48$

Hence, the numbers are $12$ and $48$.
