• Maggots only developed in an open jar containing meat and did not develop in a jar containing meat but covered with muslin.
• Lazzaro Spallanzani also disproved the abiogenesis theory and stated that microorganisms were necessary for spontaneous generation. He used two bottles containing broth.
• Broth from both the bottles was boiled in order to kill the microorganisms. One bottle was kept open while the other bottle was sealed.
