Solution
The correct option is A Abiogenesis
Theory of abiogenesis states that live has spontaneously originated from non-living material.
It is also called a spontaneous generation theory. Francesco Redi was the first one who disproved the theory of abiogenesis. He disproved the theory that maggots could spontaneously generate from meat.
Maggots only developed in an open jar containing meat and did not develop in a jar containing meat but covered with muslin.
Lazzaro Spallanzani also disproved the abiogenesis theory and stated that microorganisms were necessary for spontaneous generation. He used two bottles containing broth.
Broth from both the bottles was boiled in order to kill the microorganisms. One bottle was kept open while the other bottle was sealed.
Few days later, a sealed bottle showed no sign of life whereas broth in open bottle turned cloudy indicating the presence of life.
