Given,
From a solid sphere of radius R, a concentric solid sphere of radius R2 is removed.

Initial surface area of the sphere (A1)=4πR2

Now, the new surface area of sphere (A2)=4πR2+4π(R2)2
=4πR2+πR2
=5πR2.

Increase in area is =A2A1A1×100%
=5πR24πR24πR2×100%
=πR24πR2×100%
=25%.

Hence, the area will be increased by 25%.
