Question

From a tap of inner radius 0.75 centimetre water flows out at the rate of 0.75 metre per second. calculate the volume litres of water delivered by the pipe in 30 minutes?

Open in App
Solution

Volume of water flowing out of the tap in 1 s = 227×0.75×0.75×75 cm3 (1 m = 100 cm)
30 min = 30 × 60 s = 1800 s

Volume of water flowing out of the tap in 30 min (or 1800 s) = 227×0.75×0.75×75×1800 cm3
∴ Volume of water in litres delivered by the pipe in 30 min

= 227×0.75×0.75×75×1800 ×0.001l 238.66 l 1 cm3 =0.001l
