Solution

The reaction between baking soda and vinegar NaHCO3(s) + CH3COOH(l) → CO2(g) + H2O(l) + Na+(aq) + CH3COO-(aq)

To test the CO2 gas in a lab, bubble it through lime water.

If the lime water turns milky, it proves the test of carbon dioxide.
