Area of the square
$=4^2=16c{m}^2$

Area of a circle
$=\pi (1{)}^2$

Required area = Area of square - Area of two circles

$=4^2-2\times \pi (1{)}^2$

$=16-6.28$

$=9.72c{m}^2$
